Last night, JewishDrinking held a learning event on Jewish holiday practices, especially since these holidays come up in this week’s Torah portion. Specifically, the discussion was on how drinking plays a part in enjoying Jewish holidays, with a focus on Talmudic texts, as well as post-Talmudic texts written by Maimonides and Rabbi Yosef Karo, amongst others.
Alongside the textual discussion, led by Rabbi Drew Kaplan, we tasted delicious Israeli wines, which we also reviewed, as part of the second quarter of 2023 texts-and-tasting miniseries.
This event is part of the Cincinnati local series, the next event of which will be taking place on June 21st.
