Taking the rest of August off for a little summer break, JewishDrinking.com’s podcast and video series will resume after Labor Day with episodes on Lubavitcher Fabrengens, Honey/Mead, Kiddush Clubs, and a “Drinks and Discussion” episode on drinking during the Ten Days of Repentance (including Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur).
The Honey/Mead episode features Rabbanit Amalia Haas, CEO of Bee Awesome, discussing honey and, where it leads…to mead. This is an appropriate pre-Rosh HaShanah episode🍯🍯🍯
The Drinking During the Ten Days of Repentance episode will be a “Drinks & Discussion” Zoom session, allowing people to join a Zoom session and discussion (along with a beverage of your choosing, which is optional) with me (Rabbi Drew Kaplan), as I lead a discussion on sources surrounding drinking on Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, and in between. That session takes place one week from today – feel free to join!
The Kiddush Clubs episode features Rabbi Avi Finegold, who had previously been the guest on the Wine at Jewish Lifecycle Events episode. Of course, it is an interesting time to consider kiddush clubs, as they are not taking place (as far as I know) during this global pandemic.
The episode on Lubavitcher fabrengens was recorded prior to the global pandemic, so that provided a great opportunity to sit down and chat with Rabbi Eli Simpson over some vodka during the same session that we recorded the Drinking in Hasidic Thought episode back in the winter (before social distancing was a thing).
