Nearly a Dozen El Tequileño Products Have Now Been Certified Kosher-for-Passover

El Tequileño, a producer of tequilas, has recently had several of its products become certified as kosher-for-Passover. There has been a growing list of agave spirits in recent years that have been certified as kosher-for-Passover (for instance, see the 2025 list), so adding more to this list is an exciting piece of news for kosher-concerned consumers.

This list of newly-certified as kosher-for-Passover products is as follows, according to a certificate issued by the Star-K, dated 24 December 2025 (ד’ טבת תשפ״ו):

  • Blanco Mixto
  • Cristalino Reposado
  • Joven
  • Platinum
  • Private Select Blanco
  • Reposado
  • Reposado Frances
  • Reposado Rare
  • Sassenach Select Reposado
  • Select Barrel
  • Still Strength

All of the above products are noted as pareve kosher-for-Passover (henceforth, KFP); these are in addition to the following pareve kosher-certified products:

  • 50th Anniversary Añejo
  • Añejo Gran Reserva
  • Extra Añejo
  • Reposado Gran Reserva

The certificate does note that the “Star-K symbol required” as a condition of certification for all of the above products. The difference between these two lists has to do with barrel-aging of this latter list of products, according to Steffin Oghene, El Tequileño’s Vice President of Business Development: “these other products have been aged or contain tequila aged in barrels that cannot be considered KFP.”

This recent development is not the first time that El Tequileño’s products have been certified. “Our distillery has been approved Kosher since 2024,” notes Oghene. “However, for KFP there are several steps in the process. Firstly, Star-K reviewed and confirmed that all ingredients in the process were KFP. Secondly, they ensured that the process followed the strict rules to qualify for KFP. They also reviewed each product and the blending process to ensure all fell within the requirements. The products that adhered to all requirements were eventually approved and can now be labelled KFP.”

As to the decision on the company’s decision to seek this advanced level of kosher-certification, Oghene articulated that “El Tequileño was founded on the belief that great tequila comes from honesty – honest ingredients, honest process, and respect for tradition. Kosher-certification, particularly for Passover, recognizes that integrity in a way that resonates far beyond borders. We are deeply honored that a spirit born in Tequila Town, Mexico, can now be welcomed at Passover tables across the Jewish world.”

This is certainly timely news with Passover less than six weeks away, so it’s very likely that these bottles will be popping up during Passover gatherings, whether at Passover tables, shalom zachors, kiddush clubs, or more.
