Jewish Link Publishes Third Annual Wine Guide

For the third year in a row, The Jewish Link has published The Jewish Link Wine Guide, which is quite fascinating. The Jewish Link has published a wine guide that is quite fascinating. At its core, the publication is a list of truly fantastic kosher wines across different categories. Given that the editors have tasted thousands — or at least hundreds — of wines, that alone would have been enough to make the guide worthwhile. However, they go beyond that by also publishing articles on various aspects of the kosher wine world, which makes it even more interesting.

I’ll admit that while I am a wine-drinker, wine is not my go-to beverage. Still, with Pesach coming up in just a couple of days, wine becomes a very important beverage at this time of year. Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of reading this publication, and wow — it really opened my eyes. What is especially fascinating is that it is not aimed at a beginner or basic audience. When it comes to wine, it is speaking to a knowledgeable readership. In many ways, I felt I had a lot of catching up to do, but that was actually a good thing. I enjoy the challenge of learning new things, of having to Google terms and concepts while trying to understand the different aspects being discussed.

Moshe Kinderlehrer – “Visiting Winemakers in Israel”: A piece from the editor about busy wine-makers in Israel.

Elizabeth Kratz “Tova Ha’Aretz Me’od Me’od”: She writes about speaking with a variety of vintners and winery owners in Israel about what they’re doing what makes their products unique.

Joshua E. London – “Winemakers in Warming Climates Look to the Negev”: As vintners in France and elsewhere are dealing with the rise in climate and how it is adversely affecting their crops of grapes as opposed to how. It’s always been done. The wineries in South of Israel in the desert have been showing have been experimenting as it is in unusual climate in which to grow grapes and yet the research and experience that they are doing can have positive effects throughout the rest of the world.
This was a really cool article!

Elizabeth Kratz – “Austria’s Kosher Vinter”: About a kosher vintner in Austria.

Channa Fischer – “Professional Advancement in Kosher Wine Education”: This is really interesting to hear about the advances of kosher wine dot com and securing advanced levels of wine certification as kosher wines requires special stuff.

Gamliel Kronemer – “The Fall and Rise of Kosher Fortified Wine”: This is quite neat to get a sense of this trend and what’s going on, including not only sherries and ports, but also vermouths.

Yossie Horwitz – “ON TREND: Winemaker Pet Projects”: This is interesting to read about vintners who work at established wineries who have their side business ventures in wine-making.

Wineries of the Year 2023
Five or six different key wineries that are doing really great products.

The Second Annual Innovator Awards
Winners doing cool stuff in making advances.

Kenny Friedman – “Accessible (and Delicious) Kosher Wines From Italy and Spain”: This is really neat to learn about different regions, different grapes, and different styles of making wines in Italy and Spain.
