With only a few domestically-produced kosher-certified vermouths commercially available in the US, I was excited to not only try and taste one of them, but also to speak with the creator of this vermouth last week at Royal Wine Corporation’s Kosher Food & Wine Experience (KFWE).
Jonathan Hajdu, who was recognized as one of Wine Enthusiast‘s 40 under 40 Tastemakers in 2018, is not only the winemaker for Covenant Wines, but also the creator of Hajdu Wines. It is through this latter entity that he created the Hajdu Vermouth.
Having been curious about this product, I was excited to taste it last week at KFWE, where I greatly enjoyed it, especially since it does not come across as bitter as vermouths often do. In fact, it is easily drinkable on its own with a citrusy pleasantness.
